Special Meeting of
June 30, 2003
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Inyo, State of
California, met in special session at the hour of 8:20 a.m., on Monday,
June 30, 2003, in the Board of Supervisors Room, County Administrative
Center, Independence, with the following Supervisors present: Chairperson Michael Dorame presiding, Linda Arcularius, Julie
Bear, Ted Williams, and Carroll M. Hambleton, Jr. Supervisor Dorame provided the Invocation, and
Supervisor Bear led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Public Comment
|
The
Chairperson announced the public comment period and there was no one from
the public wishing to address the Board.

County Dept. Reports
|
The
Chairperson announced the County Department Report period and there were
no reports forthcoming.

CAO-Budget/ Preliminary FY
2002/2003 Amendment
|
The County
Administrator explained that the action authorizing the contract for
services in obtaining a Dental Health Professional Shortage Area
designation for the County and the Inyo County Oral Health Initiative had
to take place prior to the beginning of the Fiscal Year in order for costs
to be incurred. He explained
that should this addition not be made any services associated with either
item would have to wait until Final Budget adoption.
Moved by Supervisor Arcularius and seconded by Supervisor Williams
to amend the approval of the 2002/2003 Board
Approved Budget as Preliminary Budget for Fiscal Year 2003/2004 to include
the following: HEALTH
& HUMAN SERVICES - Children and Families Commission - A) approve, in concept, a request to the
California Endowment for funding of an Inyo County Oral Health Initiative
in the amount of $898,253; and B) approve the Contract between the County
of Inyo and Healthcare Financial Solutions, for assistance in obtaining a
Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designation for Dental Health
Services, for the period of July 1, 2003, through June 30, 2004, in an
amount not to exceed $10,000, contingent
upon the Board’s adoption of a FY 2003/2004 budget; and authorize the
Chairperson to sign. Motion
carried unanimously.

Closed Session
|
The Chairperson recessed open session at 8:40
a.m., to convene in closed session with all Board Members present to
discuss Agenda Item No. 4. PERSONNEL
(Pursuant to Government Code Section 54957) - Public Employee
Appointment - Title: Director
of Planning.

Report on Closed Session
|
The Chairperson recessed closed session at
5:45 p.m., to convene in open session to receive a report on closed
session. County Counsel
reported there were no items discussed in closed session, which were
required by law to be reported on in open session.

Adjournment
|
The Chairperson adjourned
the special meeting at 5:45 p.m.
