SPECIAL MEETING |

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Inyo, State of California, met in special session at the hour of 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the Big Pine Town Hall, 150 Dewey Street, Big Pine, California, with the following Supervisors present: Chairperson Susan Cash presiding, Ted Williams, and Jim Bilyeu. Supervisors Arcularius and Cervantes were absent. Supervisor Bilyeu provided the Invocation, and Supervisor Cash led the Pledge of Allegiance.

TOT Ballot Measure |
The Chairperson announced that the Board would be discussing and responding to questions regarding the Ballot Measure and Ordinance entitled “An Ordinance of the County of Inyo, State of California Adding Section 3.202.200 to the Inyo County Code, to Impose an Additional Transient Occupancy Tax at the Rate of Three Percent (3%) for the Purpose of Funding Law Enforcement Services Provided by the County of Inyo.” The Board and the following members of the audience discussed the proposed Ballot Measure in depth and at length, including (a) discussing why law enforcement was earmarked for the funds; (b) why it was a good tax because the visitors will help to pay for law enforcement services, (c) the impact to services should this ballot measure not be approved; and (d) the disappointment expressed by several members of the audience in the Chamber of Commerce’s absence from the meeting and why the Chamber of Commerce was not present to explain why they were not supporting this measure: Mr. Tom Valdez, Ms. Sandy Lund, Mr. Denis Joncas, Ms. Carolyn Joncas, Ms. Jorja Reyburn, Mr. Clyde Reyburn, and Ms. Marilyn Mann.
