The county will be advertising for bids for a construction project to install approximately 1 mile of metal beam guardrail on a narrow section of Ninemile Canyon Road, near Pearsonville, approximately 7 miles west of US 395. This is a federally funded Highway Safety Improvement Project with an Underutilized Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Goal of 1.9 percent. Advertising for bids is anticipated to begin during late summer or early fall of 2011.
The county will be soliciting Statements of Qualifications from engineering firms to provide comprehensive engineering design services for the replacement and rehabilitation of county bridges. The county currently has funding in place for the evaluation of three Highway Bridge Program eligible bridges located on Walker Creek and Carroll Creek Roads in southern Inyo County, and for a double-box culvert on Bell Access Road at Oak Creek near Independence, California.
