Planning for Housing - SB2 grant

The County was awarded a SB2 grant to conduct a very thorough vacant lands inventory and zoning review of properties located throughout the County. This information was used to identify land that might be appropriate for zone changes to promote affordable housing opportunities primarily by increasing the allowable residential density. The State’s Regional Housing Number Allocation (RHNA) criteria for site selection was used along with site access to utilities and services, proximity to transportation opportunity and outside of areas with critical environmental concerns, such as earthquake, flood zones, special status species, and high fire danger areas. Based on this work eight parcels were selected for General Plan and zone designation changes to allow for higher density residential housing. A Program EIR was then prepared for the project.
