The public hearing and first reading of the proposed ordinance will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2020 in the Board of Supervisors Room, County Administrative Center, 224 N. Edwards St., Independence, with adoption scheduled immediately after in the same location. A copy of the full text of the proposed ordinance is available for review within the Board Clerk’s Office, County Administrative Center, Independence.
Summary of ordinance: The proposed ordinance would amend the above-listed sections of Inyo County Code, set forth in Title 18, and add a subsection to Title 18 in order to make changes to the short-term rental of residential properties ordinance regarding stricter penalties for violations; make changes to permitting requirements and definitions; and add the Multiple Residential, 2-units (R2) zone to the zoning districts that allow for short-term rentals and to remove the non-hosted permit, effectively disallowing the use in the future.
The Planning Commission reviewed the proposed ordinance at its January 22, 2020 meeting and voted unanimously to adopt a resolution recommending the Board of Supervisors enact the ordinance and find it exempt from CEQA by "Categorical Exemption, Class 1 Existing Facilities," found in 14 CCR section 15301.
