Just like veterans, there is not a one size fits all answer. Please schedule an appointment with the Veteran Service Office to find out what you are eligible for or come in during walk in hours with your questions.
When a veteran has passed please contact the Veteran Service Office to go over burial benefits, to stop the veterans monetary benefits (if the veteran is receiving them), and to go over the benefits the surviving spouse/dependents may be eligible for.
The CalVet College Fee Waiver for Veteran Dependents benefit waives mandatory system-wide tuition and fees at any State of California Community College, California State University, or University of California campus. This program does not cover the expense of books, parking or room and board. There are four plans under which dependents of Veterans may be eligible. Gather required documents, complete application and schedule an appointment or come in during walk in hours at the Veteran Service Office.
Surviving spouses may qualify for benefits. Please come in to the Veteran Service Office during walk in hours or contact the office to make an appointment.
Obtaining your Veteran designation on my DL/ID is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Get your records, then visit any CVSO, and then visit any DMV:
Get Records. Find an original or certified copy of your military discharge certificate (DD214). If you need assistance obtaining your military records, the County Veteran Service Office (CVSO) can assist you.
Visit the CVSO. Take your DD214 and government identification to the CVSO to obtain your Veteran Status Verification Form.
- Visit Any DMV. Go on-line or call any DMV for an appointment. Then bring your Veteran Status Verification Form to DMV. Complete your application; pay any application fees in addition to a $5.00 Veteran designation fee. You must complete all applicable application and testing requirements.
You can use the link below or come in to the Veteran Service Office during walk in hours or contact us to schedule an appointment and we will assist you in requesting records.
