Uncertainty is a fact of life and in any decision or endeavor. County of Inyo Risk Management strives to understand, manage, and control that uncertainty, or "risk," to provide and encourage a safe and functional environment for our employees, our volunteers, and the communities we serve. Unforeseen losses can interrupt services to citizens. Risk Management helps to reduce the exposure to, and the financial impact of, losses to visitors and citizens, as well as losses to County employees, volunteers, and assets, by utilizing proactive measures designed to reduce the likelihood of such unforeseen losses.
This department handles notices and investigations of claims against the County, workers compensation matters for County employees, and contractual risk transfer and insurance requirements for people doing business with the county. We also do loss control and safety audits to support other departments in protecting County employees and assets, and we manage the County’s insurance programs. The County Risk Manager also serves as the ADA and Return to Work coordinator for the County. This role assists citizens and employees with disabilities to access county programs, services, and opportunities.
