District 5 is represented by Supervisor Will Wadelton, who was sworn in as District 5 Supervisor on January 6, 2025. He was one of six candidates vying to succeed retiring District 5 Supervisor Matt Kingsley, ultimately winning election in November of 2024.
Wadelton grew up with his mom, dad, and brother in Big Pine, where his grandfather owned a refrigeration business. After graduating from Big Pine High School in 2003, he joined the Navy in 2004, serving for nearly 10 years as a nuclear machinist on a submarine.
Following his military service, Wadelton returned to the Owens Valley, putting roots down in Lone Pine where he created a popular handyman business and became well-known and liked throughout the town for his willingness to help out wherever and however needed – including running the food bank for almost 5 years and serving on the Lone Pine Community Services District Board of Directors.
Wadelton married his wife, Amanda, in 2022, and he credits her with providing the support he needed when deciding to run for the District 5 office about two years later. He and another individual beat out four other challengers in the June 2024 primary, with Wadelton emerging as the victor that November.
At 8,040.01 square miles, District 5 is by far the largest supervisorial district in Inyo County and Wadelton is making it his mission to get to know each and every community and their unique character and needs.
