Supervisor Griffiths was sworn into his fourth term representing District 2 on January 6, 2025. He was first elected in 2012, and re-elected in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
No stranger to public service, Griffiths credits his parents and upbringing on a dairy farm in Ohio with instilling in him a commitment to hard work and desire to help his community. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, after which he enrolled in the Peace Corps teaching sustainable agriculture and forestry and water system construction in Panama. Two years later, Griffiths relocated to Bishop where he joined the boards of several non-profit groups, raised two sons, foster-parented dozens of local youth, served on the First 5 Commission and Bishop City Council, and was ultimately voted in to serve District 2 on the Inyo County Board of Supervisors.
While Griffiths’ dedication to community service continues – and finds him volunteering to serve on the boards of organizations like Inyo-Mono Advocates for Community Action, the Eastern Sierra Foundation, and Eastern Sierra Pride – he remains just as active on numerous committees and commissions on which he specifically represents of the Inyo County Board of Supervisors. These include the boards for Eastern Sierra Transit Authority, the Inyo County Foster Care Committee, Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council, City of Bishop-County of Inyo Liaison Committee, Eastern Sierra Council of Governments, Local Agency Formation Commission, the Inyo-L.A. Standing Committee, the Tribal Consultation Committees for the Bishop and Timbisha-Shoshone Tribes, and the California State Association of Counties (CSAC).
Griffiths was elected in November 2024 to serve as 2025 President of CSAC at its 130th Annual Meeting in Los Angeles County. The election marked a historic moment for Inyo County, which has never had a supervisor serve in the highest post of the organization that represents all 58 counties.
District 2 includes the City of Bishop, where Griffiths enjoys raising chickens and goats.
