Assessor
The Assessor's Office is responsible for administering the county property assessment program. Revenues based on property assessments benefit the public by funding public schools and services administered by the county, cities, and special districts.
The Assessor's Basic Responsibilities are to:
- Identify all assessable property within the county
- Determine the ownership and value of the assessable property
- Apply legal exemptions
- Prepare an annual assessment roll
the Assessor's office does not:
- Collect payment for taxes
- Establish property tax laws
- Set rules by which property is appraised
- Compute property tax bills
