All vehicles impounded by the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office must have a release form issued by the Sheriff’s Office before the tow company is authorized to release the vehicle. You must contact the Operations Headquarters in Bishop or Lone Pine during normal business hours for the release form.
Impounded vehicles will be released only to the registered owner. Owners must supply current valid registration, proof of insurance, and a valid driver’s license.
Upon obtaining a vehicle release from the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office, the owner must take the form to the tow company, where all towing and storage fees must be paid to the tow company.
