Board of Supervisors to Meet in Tecopa

Members of the Board of Supervisors are making their annual spring pilgrimage to Southeast Inyo County next week for a special meeting in Tecopa.

The Board will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 in the Tecopa Community Center, 400 Tecopa Hot Springs Rd.

The meeting is an opportunity for supervisors to meet face-to-face with constituents from Inyo County’s farthest-flung communities. Items on the agenda include department head reports and updates from personnel with Death Valley National Park, the Southern Inyo Fire Protection District, and representatives of the Amargosa Conservancy and Friends of the Amargosa Basin.

The County will also provide information on the status of Assembly Bill 470, which would allow a Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) provider, such as AT&T, to abandon essential responsibilities and leave large swaths of California – such as the Death Valley region – without reliable and affordable access to basic telephone service. The Board of Supervisors has taken a formal position in opposition to the bill.

For convenience, the meeting will be available via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/868254781. The meeting may also be accessed by telephone at the following numbers: (669) 900-6833; (346) 248-7799; (253) 215-8782; (929) 205-6099; (301) 715-8592; (312) 626-6799. Webinar ID: 868 254 781.
