COVID-19 Vaccine Information

updated: January 18, 2022

The COVID-19 vaccine offers the best defense against the virus that causes COVID-19. For info on the COVID-19 vaccine, text your ZIP code to 438829.

There is currently no cure for COVID-19. The most effective way to prevent COVID-19 is by getting vaccinated. If you or a loved one contracts COVID-19, there are some therapies and medications that may be effective in treating COVID-19 symptoms. These therapies should not be considered an alternative to vaccination.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information:

Inyo County Public Health is working with providers throughout the County to offer COVID-19 vaccine clinics. Available clinic information is included on the COVID-19 vaccine clinic subpage and in weekly update emails.

COVID-19 vaccines are being monitored for safety with the most comprehensive and intense safety monitoring program in U.S. history. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) monitors the safety of all COVID-19 vaccines after the vaccines are authorized or approved for use, including the risk of myocarditis in children ages 5 through 11 years.
The benefits of COVID-19 vaccination outweigh the known and potential risks

Vaccine eligibility has opened up to everyone 5 years of age and older. Read more about COVID-19 vaccines for children and teens on the CDC webpage.

  • Currently the Pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is the only vaccine approved for those age 5 - 11 years old
  • Pfizer is approved for those age 12 years of age or older (including Booster Doses)
  • Moderna and Janssen/J&J are approved for those 18 years of age or older

Anyone can receive the vaccine: Public Health and all vaccine providers are not asking about or sharing immigration status with any organizations. We are committed to providing a safe place for everyone to receive the vaccine. You do not need to be a resident of Inyo County or have citizenship to receive the vaccine.

All of the COVID-19 vaccines are FREE of cost:

  • If an individual has health insurance, vaccine providers are able to charge insurance an administration fee;
  • If you do not have insurance, you WILL NOT be charged anything for the vaccine.
